Nature

An unforgettable world

Presentation

There is a wide range of beautiful and unique beaches and coves all along the Costa Brava.

One of the most characteristic features of beaches and coves in this area are the pebbles and the rocks. The rocks, which were mashed up when the Pyrenees were formed, have been so stunningly carved by wind and erosion that they remind of animals. The camel, the eagle or the tortoise are some of the names given to some of the rocks by the locals. One of the rocks located at cove Culleró influenced Salvador Dali’s famous work of art The Great Masturbator. However, Cap de Creus also inspired other artists, such as Antonio Pitxot, who focused on anthropomorphic figures composed of the stones that lined the seashores near his home.
